Technician: Tales That Time Forgot, Take A Hint Theatre Company. Performed at Lantern Theatre, Liverpool, 21st July
This show from children’s theatre/TIE company Take A Hint Theatre Company was performed as part of the ‘Shiny New’ festival of new writing at the Lantern Theatre in July 2013.
Liverpool is putting itself on the map as part of the pre-Edinburgh fringe circuit, thanks to the efforts of Pete Mitchelson, a local director and technician at the Lantern Theatre. For the past couple of years, he has organized a small festival of new writing, hosted at the Lantern. Many of these are testing grounds for shows bound for Edinburgh. I was fortunate enough to be able to assist Pete in the running of the 2013 Shiny New Festival, which included a variety of shows by Jollyboat, Dave Alnwick and Take A Hint, amongst others.
After the festival had finished, Take A Hint continued to play their show, which extols the virtues of reading, at the Lantern and at other venues, bringing me in as their general technician — my duties included everything from lighting/sound design and operation to making the tea!
