Video Stream Technician: 2UBE Extra Festival, LIPA. Performed at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, 26th March-4th April.
Once again, the Third Year Music Performance Practical examination (which takes the form of a music festival in LIPA) returned to the Paul McCartney Auditorium as the 2UBE Extra Festival. Over 8 days, 40 bands played the festival to a live audience, as we streamed the entire festival to YouTube for global consumption.
For this event, I worked as the video stream technician, responsible for overseeing the uplink to YouTube from the vision control pipeline. This involved re-purposing an old computer, writing custom software and solving pipeline issues as they occurred during the festival. The acts were seen from every continent via our YouTube broadcast so solving time-critical issues was a large part of the job during the festival.
For some insider photos and details of the system, see the 2UBE Extra blog post.
